mocena, you need to get in touch with me to claim your prize...

Also, I was going to do an update, but I don't have it in me. I'm taking an indefinite hiatus, for personal reasons.

Thank you all for reading, and I hope to someday return to this project (or something similar). If you're interested in knowing when I do, send an email to the above email address with the subject line "Mailing list."

Oh, and Manteli - I think she officially came out a while ago :D Not sure, I vaguely remember an article confirming it though.

Well, well, it's about time for a farewell party with some carob cake mixed with garlic flakes, a claudia banner "wehl mess yu!", some sniffles from the mary anne corner, a big whack on the shoulder from kristy, mal and jessi giggling a poem together about wild horses meeting cute mouses, plus a new outfit picked by stacey, including red cowboy boots and purple strech pants. Don't forgot the dibble earrings !Oh, and a bunch of kids waitnig behind the door, while you look like mondo the whale, cause you're so surprised in the middle of a yawn.

Tiff (can we call you Tiff?) Thanks for being a stop on my daily surf tour, it was a pleasure. All the best for you, may your idea live on among some other bsc fanatics. Childhood...I forgot the english word...childhood had a huge impact on all uf us. Thanks for sharing!

All the best, Mara

Good luck Tiff! You and your wonderful recaps will be missed. :) I honestly admire your dedication for keeping up with the posts for as long as you did... I know I'd never have the time between all of real-life's craziness. Again, good luck, and thanks for all of the fun hours of procrastination you've provided me with. As someone else said, I believe a party with a poorly spelled banner and twenty or so little kids playing egg races and hide-and-seek is in order.

Aw, I just disovered this blog a few weeks ago! I'm dibble disappointed. Hope you return soon! This blog is a great read for lunch hours/slow periods at work.

I've never commented before, but man, did I love this blog! Thanks so much for rekindling the BSC love among me and my grad school friends (and for making me wheeze with laughter at your comments)! Best of luck to you.

Aww, you'll be missed. I loved your snarky wit on the BSC. You reminded me what I hated (and secretly love) about the series!

Good luck, and thank you!

Best of luck to you. You'll certainly be missed. I appreciate the countless hours you put in writing up these blog entries. It allowed me to take a break from the real world and have a great many laughs. I appreciate your humor and cynicism. Take care of yourself!

Thorny said...

Thanks for the laughs!

You inspired in me the idea for my blog, in which I reread the books I read obsessively when I was a kid.

Including, hopefully, that BSC book where Claudia and Dawn get stranded on that island!

hey tiff,
i know everyone else is being all understanding and shit, about your personal issues, but dammit, PLEASE come back!!! WE NEED YOU!

Ohhh, Tiff, I just discovered this blog and have spent the past week reading every last post. It all started when I had a few weeks off and decided to reorganize and reread all my BSCs, and wondered what sort of BSC stuff was on the internet. It's totally amazing and thanks for posting so much. Hope to see it back soon! I'm going back to "Mallory and the Trouble with Twins" now.

This blog is the most dibble thing eva. Shame it's over, but it kept me giggling through work for a few boring days at work. I am so totally nostalgic for my pre-teens when I was totally obsessed by the BSC and couldn't wait to turn 13. Growing up in Australia I was amazed how different life was in the US - 11 year old kids allowed to babysit babies for entire weekends?!? What sort of trip was ANM on?? I thought that was the reality in the US and that my life in OZ totally SUCKED!!!! Claud is still my secret fashion idol...

I have only just found your blog, and what a great idea! I will have to back read your posts :) I grew up reading the books and absolutely loved them! I still have the books, should reread them.
Best of luck with your future :D

I just found this today, and read every single entry. I consider these hours well spent.

Thanks for all the laughs and memories. I hope you do continue sometime (at least to snark on Mal's Cooties!)

Good Luck!

It's almost a year later and I still miss you!
Hope all is well!

Sigh, please come back. Comment on how no fewer than two of the books describe Mal as "sturdy." STURDY!

Well, it's been almost a year. I just wanted to let you know I come back every now and then to re-read some of your old posts.

If you were to ever start blogging again, it would make me one happy gal.

I still come here every once in awhile to read your archives. So funny. I hope you pick it up again at some point.

Tiff? Thank you soooooooo much for the blog!! You validated a past I'd almost forgotten (*wipes away tear*), and are solid proof that one can read the BSC (or something similar) and still be AWESOME!! I won't let my friends tell me stuff is "bad" for me now, ha ha. Honestly, Your blog made me laugh out loud harder than any movie ever has!! Hey, who would have thought such an utter gem (blog) could come out of something as awful as the BSC? I only discovered it a few months ago, and am soooo sorry it's over. I really hope you're well again; it was really sad to see your somewhat despondent last entry after the spirited others. Please come back if you ever can, I drool at the thought!! Take care.

Anonymous said...

Re-read your entries again, I miss this blog :-(

Hope you are well!!!

Gato said...

Wow, I'm so sorry i didn't discover your blog earlier. Really, its the only thing to make me laugh out loud in years. I hope everything in your life calms down a little bit. Good luck and heres to hoping you write in the future, about anything.

Hi Tiff... I just stumbled onto this site while doing art history research on the Dakota, and it's AMAZING... I spent most of 1990-1995 reading the BSC books, and most of the time I couldn't STAND those dorky girls. (Yet I couldn't stop reading.) I've always wondered how bad the books are from an adult perspective, since they were that bad from a third grader's! Thanks, and I hope you continue this project!

Anonymous said...

Ok, 3 things that have been bothering me ever since I last read these books in elementary school:
1. The time Dawn "choked down a hot dog" on a camping trip because there was nothing else to eat... I'm sorry, but a true vegetarian would sooner eat leaves or starve for a night than eat a hot dog, of all things!

2. The BSC mysteriously NEVER had any sitting jobs from 5:30-6pm Wednesdays!

3. Does anyone else wish that maybe these books are a Twilight Zone-dream sequence kind of thing, and the members of the BSC are actually retarded kids? And they're not really babysitting, they're just at playdates with little kids who are at the same maturity level as them? But since the books are written from their point of view, they think they're all grown up and "babysitting." Hmmm...

Anonymous said...

Wow.

Jo said...

Tiff, reading (and re-reading!) your blog has inspired me to read my old BSC books again. Man, I can't believe I actually idolized Stacey as a kid. Maybe one day you'll return to it? You and your snarky comments are greatly missed!
