Revisiting my awkward(est) years, one Baby-Sitters Club book at a time.
Thanks for the link Tiff. It's so good to get an update from you, and to know you haven't forgotten this blog! :) I'm unbelievably excited for the book's release. Now if only the publishers would print the original Babysitters Club books, because I'm certain there's a market!
Wow! A post from Tiff! We've missed you so so so much! Can't wait for the prequel!
can you officially come back? :)
omg i've just discovered your blog and u seriously have to keep blogging-it's so funny!I was obsessed with BSC til I was like, 12, and seeing them in this new way as a 20-year-old is fucking hilarious.
I just discovered this blog today. Read the whole thing....hilarious.Ann M. Martin is a copping out. I sequel would be much more interesting. Really a story of life before the BSC? that would be the portrait collections. Hello. please she just wanted to write the prequel because she didn't write the last 100 or so books and this would would mean she would have to go back and read them and who wants to do that? (wink)
Eh. The prequel is just a way for them to advertise a Never Before Published! addition to the series.Republishing the books is a seriously good idea though. They're pretty timeless in that they're stories about 12 year old girls written for 8 year old girls who are waiting desperately to get older so they can be mega cool like the girls in their books. They just need to go ahead and start turning out the entire series. I bet so many moms would sign their daughters up to receive a "new" BSC book every other week or something. It's perfect from a marketing standpoint, a parental standpoint (nothing inappropriate) and an educational standpoint. Ongoing series are a great way to get kids obsessed with reading.But... do you think they'll update the outfits, too?
Oh no... just when we thought we were safe (from new BSC books). lol
Well, the article did say something else I could relate to; that moms are sharing the books with their daughters. Mine is too young still, but I've been buying the books in thrift stores. Only up to #40 though, b/c then they got reallllly bad.And come back Tiff!
Well said, awesome article.
